Latino Facts
Population Total current U.S. Population - 290,000,000 37 million Hispanics 106% increase in overall immigration from 1990 to 2000…
These are very interestinf statistics, however, as pointed out in the article national origins still is the identity factor so if these statistics were broken down by national origin, then each nationality would know their own situation and their civic leadership would be better informed to take corrective action where needed and to place emphasis in those programs that would be most beneficial for their own national group.
The main problem with that approach is that when that is done, people get insulted when their nationality does not seem to be accomplishing or achieving as much or as well as other Spanish-speaking nationalites and it is even worse when one nationality seems to do far better than all the others combined as the situyation with the Cubans high achievements without realizing they are comparing “mangos to papayas”.
Another problem seems to be the almost “untouchable” issue of the racially related socio-economic disparities.
So all these statistics become reflective of an average of a group that really does not exist except in the Census takers books and the politicians and self appointed leaders of a large number of people who are so varied and independent of each other sharing some things and differing in far many more.
Any way the intention is good and the article well presented in a very clear and concise manner.

Fascinating information and highly useful presentation. If you could save me some time and share with me the reference that includes
65% have health insurance, I would greatly appreciate it. A few of your links aren’t working for me. Great job!
Latino can be of any race. It’s hard to believe but it’s true. Some are white and some are not. They might become majority and Anglos minority in US in the future, but we’re not so sure yet. Fully one-third of Hispanic/Latinos marry people of other ethnic origins. It’ll probably be more like a colorful America if they continue to intermarry.
