“It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence liberates others.”

I was sent this from another sister in the journey…can you post this on your blogs as well? There is a book project coming soon by Rosie Molinary and they are in need of some Latinas. See below for the specifics:
Looking for Latinas between the age of 18-40 to be a part of a research project for a book (slated for a Spring 2007 release) on Latina body image and beauty perception in the United States. Participants will take part in an internet survey to gather data on Latina body image and beauty perception and/or an interview. Both the interview and the survey can be completely confidential. Volunteers should have lived in the US since they were at least 10, can be first, second, third generation American, etc, hail from any Latino country, and their parents can have two different ethnicities (perhaps only one of them is Latino and that is fine). You do not have to speak Spanish.
If you are interested in participating in this study, please e-mail the following information by December 16, 2005 to latinabookproject@adelphia.net. You will then receive a formal letter of introduction with an invitation to participate in either the survey or the study by February 1, 2006. Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone who might be interested.

Hi Liz, hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.
You might email this to Hugo Schwyzer- don’t know his address, but I’m sure you can get to him through www.hugoboy.typepad.com, his blog. He’s a gender studies teacher at Pasadena Community College and has an interest in body image, and lots of latinas in his classes.
I used to read his blog regularly, but the discussions got very long. However, he has a very distinctive pov. I still check it from time to time.
Blessings-
Dana
