“It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence liberates others.”

Out of the Closet

That’s right, I am publicizing for those who read my blog what I am up to in regards to my health. Like my friend David T. who chronicles his battle with the bulge, I will from time to time let you know what I am doing as it relates to the same battle. If I as a pastor am going to preach holistic anything, I need to take care of my temple, this body God has given me. 101_0614_1 That means "I" have to make decisions and do what may not necessarily ‘fit’ into my schedule but if it is important I’ll make time. So folks, I joined a gym (been going 3x a week) and work out with a trainer, bought an elliptical trainer for the days I don’t go to the gym, am eating healthier than ever (veggies, power smoothies!!) and I hope to lose 35-40 pounds.

As a woman in ministry, I need to take care of myself so I can do what God has called me to do. Of course, I want to look good but its more about feeling good and being healthy at this point in my life. Remember health is our first wealth.

I’ve lost weight already! A few other things I’m working towards…growing my hair long again (any chance Jeremy DelRio’s wife can do my hair?) and getting laser vision correction. I’ll keep you posted!

Diana is going to Florida this weekend for a women’s retreat in Bradenton. Maybe you can connect next Monday before she returns to NY?

You go, girl! Health is what it’s all about. I am in the same place in my journey and working towards optimal health! I’m exercising consistently–eating carefully–not yet losing weight, but am building muscle for sure. And the weight will be coming off!

    Blessings,

Congratulations on your decision and I wih you much success. Just for the record and with all respect, you look marvelous now!

Funny, I joke that everything I learned about dieting I learned from my dog. I was over-feeding him and he gained about 20 lbs. As soon as I restricted his calories he lost weight. No Adkins, South Beach etc. I thought if it worked for him by simply eating less it would work for me. I was right. :)
Good luck! One Day at a Time.
