“It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence liberates others.”

A Different Beginning to This Thanksgiving

I did something today I’ve always wanted to do. I went to a local shelter with a few of the church members and some of their friends to serve others on Thanksgiving. So instead of cooking this a.m. I woke up early and by 8 am was fixing donated clothes, cutting up pies, and getting ready to serve others their Thanksgiving meal. Although it was a bit disorganized (yes I did think of how it could have been better organized and volunteers better utilized) yet it was a good experience. Next year we want to do this again maybe for Christmas or something. We even want to do our own thing eventually. Anyway, this is some of us after the event.

Sounds like fun! My DH & kids & I helped out the day before Thanksgiving at a dinner at a local housing project and really enjoyed it.

That’s a good thing. It’s surreal how you guys don’t have coats on in November…and all that greenery in the back ground…

When i worked at the settlement house in the uppereast side i got to serve lunch every year. we even did meals on wheels for the homebound elderly i miss it…
