“It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence liberates others.”

Women on the Frontlines of Ministry Goes Mainstream

joel-and-victoria.jpgThis morning on Good Morning America, Robin Roberts (who I just love) interviewed Victoria Osteen. She asked Victoria, “what is the importance of women in ministry” and although her answer was well, not that great, the fact that they were talking about the increasing role of women in ministry was awesome. Apparently, Victoria is now Co-Pastor alongside of her husband Joel at their gigachurch, Lakewood Church, which was recently named the largest church in the U.S. by Outreach magazine. Here is an article about that.

While I am the co-pastor of a micro-church, I am very pleased to have the issue of women in ministry in the forefront. It seems that many magazines are now realizing its an issue that should be discussed. PRISM magazine however has been giving a voice to the issue since 2004 and they have me writing about it every other month! They were ahead of the curve!
