Christmas Thoughts

I get very reflective during the period of my Birthday and yes, Thanksgiving and New Year’s. My husband asked me why I look sad. It seems to him that I am sad every time this time of year. However, I am not sad per se. Just thinking, reflecting…as he walked in on my writing this post, he caught me crying not in a hysterical way…just streaming slow tears…I don’t want to seem ungrateful because the end of 2007 has been incredible for me. I live in a house my nephew said is like “MTV cribs”; my debt load has been considerably wiped clean; I have a truly wonderful husband and my two sons although very different bring me unimaginable joy YET I still cry.I cry this Christmas because I reflect on the fact that:·        I don’t have my family near me·        My young son will never know me, call me Mommy or get married and have kids·        Nothing ever turns out the way you dream it would·        People continue to disappoint meHOWEVER, please get this, I am not sad. I am incredibly grateful to still be alive, to be sane after my youngest son’s 28 surgeries and near fatal trip to the hospital this past Mother’s day. For that I am thankful and he has blessed me and my family as we end 2007. So its ok to cry not in sadness but in reflection and in gratefulness. You can’t be grateful about what you’ve come through if you don’t reflect on the things you’ve been able to thrive above right? Can I get a witness?I leave you with this thought written by someone who never let him/herself be known, however the message is more important than the one who penned it. Think About This… If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep… you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace… you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy. If you woke up this morning with good health you are more fortunate than the million who will not survive this week.If you have never experienced the danger of battle unfolding all around you, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation… you are ahead 500 million people in the world. If you can attend a church meeting without fear of persecution, harassment, arrest, torture, or death… you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. If your parents are still alive and still married…you are very rare, even in the United States. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all or the thousands who have no sight.Author Unknown
